Please read the following if you want your children to inherit your assets——As it stands now with the Tories (providing you do a will together with your wife ) you can give your next of kin £325,000 from EACH parent--total £650,000.00( it’s called the nil rate band) and an additional £175,000 from EACH parent-total £350,000.00 (providing you give to your children or adopted children)--(its called the resident nil rate band) a total of £1M inheritance tax free assets ( it’s called the threshold). (Labour’s policy is to do away with this £1M threshold and make people pay 40% inheritance tax on all assets ( don't take my word on this, please see a solicitor like I did.
