I hope China STRICTLY + TRULY ENFORCE the ban. There was a ban on Wildlife Trade in Wuhan, but the authorities looked the other way.

KUDOS to Aunti Liu.

People can use fabric or cut up old clothes; sew the layers together if you have to. In times of crisis, we should THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.

@Bianca Hodges With all due respect, THEY WERE NOT IN THE MAINLAND. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
71
It SPEAKS VOLUME that the Hong Kongers gathered, are cheering the protesters, + not the police.
59
Kudos to Meng Lan for being spunky + giving us some exceptional entertainment. Always knew animals also are individuals, possessing their own "animality".
54
@1:40, he got emotional for Dr. Li ; VERY RARE FOR CHINESE MEN TO CRY.
43
@Yódhgæ Shrifjå Mr. Chan is totally correct. Even if one is a Chinese/Asian "banana", certain Americans will never consider these bananas "legitimate Americans".
42
The cafe fired the barista; if they were smart, they should bar that despicable customer from their establishment. I bet if she is allowed to return, she will abuse the other baristas, esp after learning about the fired one.
33
@ Art Curious All those haters CAN'T DO ANYTHING, but disseminate their poison.
29
It is McCarthyism all over again.
27
@s._3560 Agree. Loopy represents Korean culture more than the Chinese one. In China, everyone has a home + some have been helped by the govt to secure their homes.
26
SO glad Simu alluded to the Chinese Exclusion Act + Internment of the Japanese-Americans. Kudos to Feige for referencing the horrific + despicable attacks of Asian American + Pacific Islanders.
26
This Beijing Declaration and the Bahrain Declaration will help to lead to a free Palestine; the west can't oppose the majority of the world.
26
THANK YOU, Hon. Zhong Nan Shan. SYE SYE !!! You too, Sir, ARE A HERO ! BEIJING can't silence ALL OF HER "TRUE PATRIOTS".
25
Most certainly; China's BRI has more than150 countries out of global total of 195.
24
@woodkey1 The customer was "late", but even had time to argue with the barista afterwards. Not you, but if someone needs "coffee to make their day", that is rather pathetic. That rude customer should learn the world DOES NOT revolve around her. Hopefully, coffee power in her face will wake her up.
23
@KAO0.0O How about all the little kids whom are starving, physically + sexually abused ? Of course the family situation is not ideal, (whose is) but the parents did not choose to be disabled. The family is doing the best they can - which is a lot better than most people.
21
@Hmm Potato I had the same thought. With her natural flexibility + China's intensive gymnastic program, she should not settle for anything less than gold.
21
$5 for a generously portioned healthy meal, with the option of oyster, is a steal; a better price than most Starbucks coffee. If I live in Hong Kong, I would go there daily - cheaper than cooking at home and the rest of the family can get what they want.
20
Hopefully, this is the beginning of a long overdue, free and independent Palestine.
20
@puffin RIGHT; now she is creepy-looking. She was an EXTREMELY GORGEOUS CHILD; probably only needs minimal, if any, makeup.
19
Even though I didn't need one, wish I had a "Riceball" when I was young.
18
The most tragic thing about this operation was that 274 Palestinians were killed, with > 23 kids, and 400 injured. Scott Ritter: "...this is the worst hostage rescue operation in the history of hostage rescue operations".
17
@Buttercookies0 How about some humanity in Gaza ???
17
@ILovePlayingZeldaGamesOnSwitch The barista is less wrong. Big deal the customer paid, yet she was offended/upset when the barista cancelled her order. If she was really that late, thru her own fault, then accept the cancellation or just leave with less $5; instead she was highly narcissistic and demanding, assuming she had the right pressure to the barista. Even after having coffee power in her face, the customer still had TIME to argue with the barista. Service workers SHOULD NOT tolerate abuses.
17
Rather dumb to have a peace summit without Putin present.
16
@zacharycohen9985 I think the the majority of the Chinese diaspora is Cantonese/Toisanese.
15
Beijing allowed Evergrande to fall because it was engaged in uber-risky practices. Right that Beijing didn't bail out Evergrande, like Washington did for the financial institutions, that caused the 2008 housing crisis.
15
Those japanese whom cause old horrors and scars should at least apologize.
15
A HUMONGOUS THANK YOU, to the U. of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital. The "Hong Kong Can Do Spirit" is ALIVE + WELL.
14
A gifted, intelligent, trilingual actress; Karena is the pride of Chinese-Canadians and Hong Kong.
14
@sheevpalps3846 I AM in the service industry; I am a physician. That customer was uber rude and demanding + her behavior is unacceptable. The customer wanted her coffee "fast", so the barista gave it to her, so fast in the face, that she didn't know what happened. Courtesy is a 2 way street !!! If you abuse others, be prepared to be abused back !!!
14
Japan should have controlled Covid before the Olympics. The US CDC rate the level of Covid in Japan as "high".
13
@SCMP For the ingredients, you are WRONG to list "Japanese Turnip + Japanese Mushroom" Lor Bak Go is made with CHINESE RADISH, sometimes called "daikon" in the store, BUT IT IS NOT JAPANESE. I grew up eating + cooking "Doon Goo" (winter mushroom) LONG BEFORE "Shitake" entered the American Diet or Lexicon. Doon Goo was cultivated IN CHINA during the SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY in 1209. IT WAS NOT UNTIL 1796, that the Japanese adopted this cultivation from China.
13
Agree. That despicable customer also felt she had the right to control the barista. I f one wants control, then make the coffee at home, as you posted. Also, I question whether she was actually late, but just lying to pressure and manipulate the barista; she had enough time afterwards to argue with the barista.
12
@Huet Lam Those Aussie can't comprehend "focus + concentration".
12
@enara haque Like you can tell the difference between Asian + Chinese; you CAN'T EVEN SPELL "ASIAN" CORRECTLY !
12
@chiaki1142 He may look biracial, but he is MORE CANTONESE THAN BRITISH, so I don't fault him for the way he speaks English, esp since only recently, did he reestablished contact with his father. (He always was a HK local) As to the "decline in English Fluency post '97", that should be the individual Hong Konger's choice.
12
The dad just went to get a package; when he did, both kids were sleeping. How is he supposed to know that the baby would wake up crying ??? Also, it seems like the dad was recording the 2 kids to monitor them.
12
@naga2015kk You can never please people like that customer; people like her want it done yesterday.
12
I though immediately about the airlift from Saigon, when I saw images of Americans/Afghans trying to escape Kabul.
12
Because Wong has to think about English Words to use, whereas his Cantonese just flows organically.
11
Correct. The hotel was too gullible not to regularly check the room.
11
SCMP is reporting, not trying to incite tension, which is the modis operandi of the Indian media.
10
@zacharycohen9985 But what language do they speak ? The Chinese diaspora also includes at least 20 other countries.
10
The least she could have done was notify the owners of her fire. She should be banned from all restaurants; her photo plastered on all restaurant's facade.
10
Right, a has been and a never can get it together.
10
SCMP and the CPC are more open than you think.
10
Chief Harrison seems to respect the Chinese Community; he listened + let Patrick vocalized his feelings.
