Throughout it long history and civilization, China was several times the world's largest economy and most advanced nation.
During the Tang Dynasty, 618-907, Europe was experiencing the Dark Ages. So the moniker, "The Middle Kingdom" is highly
appropriate. The100 yrs of Humiliation occurred during the non-Chinese, Manchu, corrupted Qing Dynasty.
You are wrong to posit that the west might repeat the failings of the Qing Dynasty; the problem with west today is overreach;
that they think they can control every part of the world, by military force, exhausting their resources, and provoking justified
resentment. Whereas, the Manchus failed by turning inward, ignoring basic problems in China and esp, beyond it's borders.
China has learned from past blunders; connectivity is a core principle of it's foreign policy. But the west has yet to appreciate
the world has changed; colonialism and imperialism are no longer viable, and will only lead to self-destruction.
