@frank6218 AGREE. The fact that China lifted 800M Chinese out of poverty is not only significant for Chinese history, but impressive because it is the first time in HUMAN history. Realistically, Xi was aided by Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai, whom in 1963 proposed China's 4 Modernization. Zhou's protege, Deng Xiaoping, was able to execute the modernization of China, leading to Xi's achievements. I also think the extraordinarily disciplined Chinese workforce should be acknowledged.

@Andy-P In China -before marriage the husband is required to have a house/apt ready for the newlywed. -parents of the married couple will move into their cramped apt to watch their grandkids, while the couple work. When Xi allowed Evergrande and several other companies, all with risky practices, to liquidate, most Chinese benefited because now they can afford to buy a bigger and/or better residence, due to housing glut caused by Evergrande and others. Thus, three generations of Chinese were freed from sharing a minuscule apt, because the grandparents can easily purchase their own apt, in the same building. Beijing did the right thing by letting the over-leveraged real estate developers fail.
