My sister + I, grew up in a NYC housing project, which was poor + crime filled,
Chinese-Americans were a minority, in that majority non-white project; we were regularly harassed, by the others.
When I was 8y/o + my sister 10, because we didn't want to be abused anymore, my sis got into a fight with 1 of them.
So there were about 15 of them + just 2 of us.
Even though my sis was not losing the fight, I saw my sister's polo shirt, being torn (undershirt still intact) + I DID NOT
WANT HER TO BE EXPOSED.
So, I pounced on my sister's opponent, which led to the end of the fight.
Though I remember both of us crying, arms linked to each other, WE NEVER TOOK OUR EYES OFF THOSE 15 PEOPLE.
After my sister's fight, they NEVER BOTHERED US AGAIN.
Most bullies, once you confront them, they will back off; but if you don't fight back, they will continue to prey upon you.
