  1. Just my 2 cents: 1) why not allow the monarch/president/governor general to set a time limit and allow all parties to negotiate for a coalition and not just the party with the most votes? It wouldn't break democracy anymore than having a party with only 5% of the vote be in govt as the bigger party invited them in the coalition. Believe new zealand kinda did this in 2017 when national got the most votes for a single party, but labour was able to form a coalition first. 2) why not just do a quasi-switzerland and have the top 3-7 parties with the most votes be in govt, rather than endless negotiations and really small parties joining just to meet the majority threshold? Sure, Germany would have a SPD-CDU-AFD govt, but at least it would be representative and end the "I'm not playing with Billy. He stinks!" syndrome currently with afd and die linke. Contrary to propaganda, having an anti-immigration right wing party in govt is not going to lead to n-zis taking over the world, unless you think Switzerland is a totalitarian fascist dictatorship. Collective govt is the key, not one man rule (presidential).
