  3. Sounds like they were too big to fail...break them up just as govts threaten Google and other companies. Have mom and pop airlines compete. Imagine if companies were never broken up...even circuit city would be one of only two electronic stores amd would charge extra fees for everything (price plus in the grocery terms).

  4. How to start an airline? Be a billionaire or ensure you have govt funding that other businesses don't get. There is no start small here, just like in the car industry. It needs to start big. Make sure you either hire lobbyists for at least half of congress or employ an army of PIs to have dirt on them to vote to give funding...you know, the american way.
