  1.  @fotoz2363  Naive? Maybe, but the westerners gave my extended family at least half a country. Had to fight to end the dictatorship, but at least it prospers. The other side is fracking hell-hole run by an absolute monarch, despite monarchies being despised by communists. I'd rather be in a western country, if only for prosperity and democracy sake. Now that I addressed that, UN trusteeship could include both post-soviet, western, and non-affiliated powers, along with natives on the trusteeship council of each post soviet country.

  2. Interesting. Why, at the fall of the soviet union and at the independence of the republics, did the UN or other international agencies not supervise the transition? Wasn't Gorbechev (in the later years) and Yeltsin (in the early years) fairly hands off and/or in support of free media and international cooperation? Perhaps a UN trusteeship that ensured 0 corruption and 100% transparency until fresh elections?

  4. Just a thought, but why not allow the 2 breakaway republics independence? Wouldn't it be better for the pro-western Ukrainians to let the pro-russian sides go?
