UnitedStates Enclave Well, at least passports are between countries. Other IDS are used internally like checkpoints: The tyranny is needing to show my govt issued ID to buy alcohol or vote. Does no one see the hypocrisy?

How is this different from an ID needed to get a job, vote, buy alcohol, etc? I'll let Nancy Mace (R, SC) rebutt Ted Cruz about this. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WnJasqv9X_s&list=WL&index=4

So, abolish laws? Any law can be considered tyrannical.

You don't need to show your personal info either, but you still have to provide a photo ID that had asked for that information. Hence, if the medical teams are tasked with making photo IDs/passport based on vaccine info, they can refuse to issue and ID/passport until all info is presented to them. Hence, no ID/passport no flight. Besides, if other countries require, you are limited to 50 states you can visit....though you won't need a passport.

UnitedStates Enclave I get what you're saying, I just think internal id is worse than external id. In either case, to avoid hypocrisy, I would lean more towards id overall. Allow global voting, but just like with owning shares of a company, one must provide their stock certificate or registered private ID (rather than govt issued) if they wish to attend shareholder meeting and vote. In either case, I see a compromise with private verified issuers of IDS sometime in the future (eg school-issued IDs to show age [even if expired which is the point] for buying alcohol, drivers Ed-issued IDs to drive, private security and medical-issued IDs to provide background check and medical check for a passport).

UnitedStates Enclave If I may, why is national OK? Surely, one could see the evils of big govt taking over regions and municipalities? Global is only one (or 2, depending) steps above national. And global governance is much less authoritative. I mean, can you imagine if a national govt had the same system the UN has? Each region would provide 1 ambassador to the national assembly. 5 permanent regional ambassadors of the 15 member national security council could veto the national assembly on anything. Each region would have its own military, but if the national security council (if it ever unanimously agreed) could deploy troops or actually pass a national law. More freedom, right?
1
UnitedStates Enclave Here's an experiment: find out how many national laws are passed versus UN laws. How well are they both enforced? Can you be arrested for breaking a national law by the police? Can you be arrested for breaking a UN law by UN peacekeepers (de facto UN police which they don't even really control as they are enlisted by national militaries)?
1
UnitedStates Enclave Consensus is usually required for global laws as nations are under no obligation to enforce. Imagine if people could ignore national laws like that. And the technicality of being brought before a world court, that is a very high bar and will not happen if any of the p5 (UK, France, China, US, Russia) oppose.
1
@_Diana_S Again, you seem to not call internal ID checks by the same n-zi hyperbole (eg voting, alcohol), but are suddenly worried about external ID checks (eg passports)?
1
UnitedStates Enclave That's how it works now. Should we devolve national law to do the same? Let regions or counties be the only level of govt that can enforce laws 😉 The UN and other international organizations cannot enforce laws that they make. And the ICJ is really hard to push for trials, especially if the nation in question is buddy buddy with a p5 member of the Security council, which can veto anything.

@lynnedinsdale5009 I can do the same random generator in smartphone textbox too: How many grams have they done in New years or even millions of dollars and have not been able enough for a while now they have a good example in this body that I could use for the rest starving is the same . 😁😁😁 Disclaimer: this is meant to be incoherent. Just like the above poster, I'm using the smartphone textbox recommended words to make a sentence to show the poster a point. 😉
