  3. I would say more authoritative democracy. There are free elections, but vast majority are used to or like the ruling party (like LDP in Japan). With the speakers corner for protests and speeches, it kinda has early 2oth century vibe... but with universal suffrage.

  12.  @elvir182  The fear of prosecution over a fallen building, medical malpractice, etc would be enough motivation to stay up on task...plus, it's a group effort, not just one individual. This doesn't exist at the school level. We don't arrest kids for the above because they don't do the above. 😁

  28. I think conglomerates (groups of companies - what you describe) are good and help prevent even small companies from going under. The trick is keeping at least 7 conglomerates for competition (low prices and good quality).

  37. So, the franchisee has to pay for the land, building, taxes, employees, and everything else. Then, they have to pay royalties to have the name and shop only at the franchisor's warehouses for supplies. Then, if franchisor decided to update the look, the franchisee has to spend their own money implementing. And the franchisee has little to no control on prices. In return, the franchisee gets...the name. Wow, woopitty-doo. Just open a McDowell's or Sunbucks. Maybe I should start a franchisor company and have ideas. I'll make other people do the work. 🤪

  39. No one ever really talks about how 20 years ago people were kicked out of the military for coming out as g-y, 30 years ago LGBT were ostracised and institutionalised in some cases, and before that even arrested. This happened in Western liberal democracies.

  46. Catenary wires above or below (3rd rail) with pantograph cars. Power plants can be geothermal, hydroelectric, wind, solar and/or nuclear. No pollution other than possibly ozone from electric catenary cars (Do they release ozone?) And spent fuel rods if nuclear...try thorium. And no need to fill up or change battery as vehicles are externally powered.

  49. If I understand you correctly, $200k is not that much for housing...especially not in a city. The cost probably factors in construction of building and maintenance too (its not cheap).
