  2. Just a thought, but the AFD, if it were around 40 years ago, would not be much different from the CDU/CSU. It was the CDU that veered to the left; AFD is just filling the gap of the classic CDU/CSU.

  4. With the exception of the extremists within that party who would be trumplicans, the mainstream AFD would be more akin to the pre-trump republicans. Parties should not be shut down, people who break laws should.

  9.  @dmarl1042  Quire possibly. There are some former CDU members who switched. However, many cdu members would fall under the frog in the boiling water analogy and not see the vast difference due to gradual veering to the left.
