Turkiye is more or less already a political power
in east Europe, west Asia & north Africa again,
but Islam was never, is not and will never be the main reason for that.
Even a lot of people in the "Classic Western Countries" see it different,
in the islamic world Turkiye is actually more seen as a part of the western world,
just with a muslim population.
Funny that these people still has not learned it after decades.
It is not only the NATO, the EU ambitions...
it is also the open society, the history, the historic and current geography,
the ecomomic links and connections and finally,
see it from the muslim perspective , the western life style.
With this reputation, it is not really realistic to become a "Muslim Leader State".
Erdogan had and have no chance to change it,
the reputation was and is still too strong.
It is more realistic to become a "Superpower" within the turkish "Turan".
BRICS membership would accelerate this process.
Disappointed from the christian EU & NATO,
Turkiye is going different ways.
It seems to be undependent enough for this strategy.

der beste Panzer der Welt gilt als fahrender Leichensarg, den man erst gar nicht mehr an die Front fährt;

Recognition beside, everybody knows, there is a border, which splits two different ethnic groups with two different states and different names,
what is all not a secret. Of course, all non-greek maps show it.
You do not need to lie, it will not help.
Everybody knows who did the genocide on the island,
especially Brits & Turks know it.
The Greeks on the island teached their neighbors in the 50s/60s until 74,
how crime against humanity works,
they got in 74 only a little back what they had sent before.
1 of 2 reasons why the murder nation did not get more support.
UK is still a colony because of a turk-friendly policy? That is new!
Funny! The Turks believe in opposition that the Brits suffer a greco-fetisch.
If UK would really give up the bases, what no Turk expects,
it is usual to give it back to the last official owner. Guess who it is!

@Mudmuffin The Armenians attacked theirs peacefull turkish neighbors, killed the farmers and burned fields in hope, a hungry population would result in a revolution weakening the Ottoman Empire. To avoid that they could come together with russian enemy, they were - instead of killing - transported away from the russian war front to the south.
95% did not die by shootings or whatever.
They just died because there was no food left on the route after field burnings. The rest what arrived in Syria, were directly killed by the Kurds there, because they did not accept their new neighbors in "kurdish area".
Naming genocide is just christian propaganda in name of christian Armenians.
It was a kind of self defense of Ottomans & a kind of suicide of Armenians.
When I run as civilian aggressively with a gun in my hand to a Police man and he shoots me down, then he would be not called murder.
Same, when my familiy would do it to a group of Police men.
Same, when the whole popoulation of a city would do in front of a military brigade. Same, when a million tries it against an empire army.
By the way, are Hiroshima & Nagasaki (only civilians) called genocide?
Why not? Because the americans are christians and the Japanese not??
Always these double standards of islamophobic western guys.

@Robbiehans I am hobby expert about all what happened in middle east the last 1000y and partly professionell expert of Balkan/Anatolia/Caucasus in newer history (100y), policy and economy.
Worked once 10y as Consultant for global companies or sometimes for ministers as support for theirs forecasts & decisions in policy or in pre-investment situations like pipeline projects.
I did not want to discuss kurdish history, not here. It is not a place for that.
Our starting point was "Who can claim land there, and why?" It was not me, who argued with history.
All the time I just have tried to explain, what counts today and in closer future for politic power & maps, and what is just historic romance. Be 100% sure, there is no 1 president worldwide, who cares what happened 50y ago and what will happen 50y in future. In real life, there is no space for historic dreams, long term visions and fantasies.
Its not my opinion, it is more what I have seen and learned painfully in a long life.

@Robbiehans I told my opinion: The last 1000y. maximum. Everything, what is older, is not really clear, not really evident and does not really influence current days anymore. 1000y...so long time, so many happened. How YOU said, at least 1/3 of Turks are not really ethnic Turks and 95% does not even know it. What kind of identity or proud they can be, for things happened 1000y ago? Did you make a DNA-Test? Why not? Not curious? Are you really kurdish? And how much percent? 100%, 50 or maybe less than 10%? How you can know, what who of your family did with who 1000y ago?
Real story: The grandfather of my grandfather got once from the Sultan huge land around Latakia with tens of Km`s with fruit trees seaside, what my family was keeping untill Asad Senior took it payless away to cut all trees and expand the city. But nobody in family knows, why he got that land and why there, so far away. Did he originally come maybe from Suriya? My father did not visit Latakia anymore. Now, there are even no documents existing anymore. And the younger generation like me even do not know exactly with borders, where it is - to claim it. Who knows, maybe somebody of your family or friends lives on land, what should be mine, but never will be, while I was never in my life owner of a small house with garden.
What is for me left? Only a kind of romantic emotion that my family was once in last century owner of the land, where today half of Latakia is build and a lot of people were killed to get control about it.

@Robbiehans If you are proud about your older history 1000y before, that shows only, that you have no achievements the last 1000y to be proud. That is poor.
I do not mock, I just say that nobody cares, what maybe (!) happened or not. Go out of your selfmade bubble. You even do not know ( if all is true) is it really your history or not.
Try to be proud for your own private achievements, what you have done, instead hiding yourself behind others (in family, city, nation, religion, football club, whatever), where you see a link to yourself. It just give you only a good feeling wihout hard work at the moment, but even that is not real.

@Robbiehans Kurds are not the first humans there! Since when you are native there, after how many years you become native?
After 500, 1000y? Or only after 2000y, but pls not much older, so that only Kurds can claim to be native there? Discuss your view with Armenians,😅 who claim heavily your "kurdish Anatolia" as "Historical Armenian heartland". There are armenian football clubs called "Anatolia". What you call east Anatolia or north Kurdistan, they call it west Armenia how Arabs call it North Arabia. You have no more claims than all others, (have been) living there. Turks are open, everybody who wants to live in peace together with them and works hard, is welcome. Every ethnic non-Turk could & can achieve everything like Turks in Türkiye. Look to Hakan Fidan. I am a fan of him, would like to see him as President instead of Erdogan (this georgian guy😅). The others should go better to their real historical homeland, my historical friend. With wrong mindset, they have maybe a history, but no future.
In worst case, history will repeat... when you discuss your theory of kurdish homeland with Armenians, they will tell you, what can happen.

@alflerran3536 Ja, hat aber nur minimalen Einfluss,
ein typisch deutscher Erklärungsversuch: "Der dumme anatol. Bauer halt....",
