@SJRS700 "15 Minute cities" or as well call them in europe 'small cities', are perfect to actually see light of day since there is an actual countryside just a few walking minutes away from everyone's home. In modern mega cities with their urban sprawl and in every US city with their massive massive suburbs eating up all the countryside most people can't actually reach any "light" without buying and maintaining a car and then driving for an hour or two. We bulldozed the best farming land and stuffed everyone into sprawl developments not thinking for a second that this is unnatural for humans and leads to depression and anti social behaviour as well as destroying the relationship between the city and the countryside.

Not enough car parking in the city. You need to destroy most houses in the city with car parking spaces and highways.

@papaicebreakerii8180 Go to google maps. zoom in on any random US city, big or small, and compare the the massive size of the suburbs with the sometimes not even existing actual city in the center. There is no choice in the US. Most people are forced to live in suburbs because almost nothing else got build in the last 60 years. Building regulations and zoning laws prohibit any actual urban planning and only allow sprawl. That's why US cities have 10 times the area than european cities and european cities unfortunately are also heavily inflicted by sprawl. Modernism was a total failure on all front, from architecture to urban planning, modernism destroyed everything. The Leipzig Charta from 2007 is the first stepp away from modernism but the massive problems like sprawl and ugly developments will not go away. Most cities are ruined forever and people don't have a choice or say in the matter. Everything has to be a fight.
