ray britton a tesla has no petrol engine so it would have stopped working in france or belgium. the i3 on the other hand worked perfectly.
48
this is one of those rare cars that look all perfect. every line. really nice car.
46
why do you care? do you have 4 bmw's? most people have one and they couldn't care less if other bmw's had the same interior or not.
11
it's a shame that you are a liar and braindead.
10
GrotrianSeiler the i3 worked perfectly and bmw has no explaining to do. that the cards don't work has nothing to do with bmw.
9
it's ugly.
6
@dashcam2417 so you buy your electric car based on one holiday a year? you drive, what, 20 km on average a day, at best, but you need an electric car with a battery with a 400 km range because you want to go to Cornwall once a year? wouldn't it be cheaper to rent a car for the holidays, borrow your parents car or buy a train ticket like the rest of us? you want to drive around the city with your 400 km battery pack/investment 350 days a year, not using even 3% of it a day, just because of your one week holiday in Cornwall? man people are strange
6
who in their right mind would by the big, heavy and amazingly ugly nissan over the porsche? if you have the money to buy either of them and you chose to buy the nissan you deserve what you get. a useless, ugly car that breaks down after 2 laps on every race track. but nissan will always find new rich people and fanboys of cheaply made cars who pay big money for a big engine in a shoe box.
5
***** performance? you mean the one hot lap performance? and after the second lap the engines rev limiter goes down, power output gets cut, the brakes overheat, gearbox overheats and finely the tires disappear in a big cloud of smoke. wow great. so impressive. a big engine and all wheel drive. what a shame that the car around the engine is useless. oh and ugly. did I mention ugly already? well, people who pay 100.000 dollar for a car don't expect perfection or anything, do they? as long as the 0-60 time is .0001 second faster than some other car. great. 100.000 dollar well spend. (+17.000 for carbon breaks to handle the weight and a set of tires every other day plus the enormous amounts of petrol the thing inhales.) being a scrooge millionaire is a real challenge. save money buying a car, lose money when you sell it again because it's still not desirable and all that nonsense just to drive a corolla styled nissan.
5
either you are a moron or the tallest person on earth, so shut up.
4
great car. it's a massive step up from the previous class.
4
well the i8 is cheaper than all of the cars you mentioned. plus it's a sportcar and the most advanced at that. carbon fiber, hybrid with all the BMW goods. sounds like a king to me.
4
***** oh look another easily influenceable commenter.
4
really cool new type of car. looks brilliant. a bit futuristic zombie apocalypse survival -ish.
3
***** I'm 1,86m and people who complain about the space in the front of a car have never owned a car and only talk out of their arses.
3
thank god that you know whats what. I bet you have driven that car in your mind a thousand times to come to this conclusion. thank you
3
sliwka621 but it didn't fail. not even close. all cars might fail at any moment, but this one clearly didn't. the mechanics at bmw didn't repair anything because nothing was broken. a range extender is a range extender and bmw always said it's there to extend the range for a couple of miles and no to be used as the engine of the car. so yes it could fail when it's not used like it should be, but it's not broken. so stop your troll/libel comments, stop lying and misquoting people and fuck off back to wherever you came from.
3
sliwka621 "failed"? again you use words without knowing what they mean. the opposite is true. the car worked perfectly even when used in a way that normally shouldn't be possible since it was not designed to run on the petrol engine alone. what a great car this one is that it can exceed it's own design limits. that's outstanding.
3
ewt415 I'm not even a BMW fan. btw the LFA is 4 times more expensive than the i8. so again you are comparing apples with oranges. you do realize that a ultimate driving machine doesn't need to be the one with the biggest engine right? or are you american? luxury for you guys is making something bigger. almost all bmw's are ultimate driving machines(especially the M5 and M3/4). none of them is the fastest car in the world but nobody ever said that that's the definition. and revolutionary? well which one of the cars you mentioned has carbon, hybrid and german luxury/design? all that for the price of a normal sports car. what would you call revolutionary? if it could fly. get real kid. you lost the argument the moment you decided to rant without knowing the facts. btw you might have noticed how the guy before me and I myself pointed out that it's a sportscar. the guy in the video clearly compares the i8 several times with the 911 and R8. a supercar is nothing more than the name for a sportscar that is more exotic then the rest. the reason is, there is a gap in the english language for small sports cars like the cayman, audi TT and alfa romeo C4, (all around 50k) and the bigger sports cars like the 911 and R8 (around 100k). because of that and because exotic sports cars can be named super cars you could label the i8 as a super car simply because it is superior to it's sports car competitors in terms of exoticness. nobody would would by a car because of i's label. don't you worry that some poor old millionaire walks into a car dealer and ends up with an i8 instead of the 4 times more expensive car that he actually wanted.
3
@dashcam2417 so basically you have no money for a new car. ok. then what is the point of all those comments...
3
VW invented it and introduced the concept at seat. so it's the other way around. but seat mostly uses old VW tech so VW can run their machines for some more years. building chassis aso. it's more economical that way. the same goes for skoda.
2
ACS607 "you're wrong"^^ no I'm not. the golf plus and the altea where both released in 2004. they used the VW QP35 platform and where developed accordingly. first the VW golf, then the golf plus/ altea. VW invented the platform and their car was shorter than a usual MPV. btw. both cars are still MPV's. it just happened to be a shorter variation because they use the golf platform. there is nothing seat did first. they didn't invent the MPV and VW invented the QP35 platform which the altea uses.
2
4 seconds faster? and no losers? take your bullshit "character" out of your arse and admit that there is a clear winner.
2
sasajungic89 actually they are. and the more stop and go city traffic you have the better they get. your car (what ever a gt86 is) can't do 40mpg in city traffic. but mat used this car almost exclusively on the motorway so the regenerative breaking doesn'T do much. also he clearly planned to use the electric drive. it's not bmw's fault that he companies who own these charging stations fucked up mat's card. how on earth can you say "if you planing to use the petrol engine in the first place"? the entire fucking video is about who he planned to use the batteries. next time pay attention instead of writing stupid comments.
2
to all you 12 year olds complaining about reviews being boring. guess what, these video are made for people who really buy cars. there are enough videos that are entertaining like top gear, chris harris and his expensive cars aso. buying a VW is the best thing you can do if you are a human living on planet earth since chance are high that you are not terribly poor nor terribly rich. so, if you are 12 and you don't like cars that are not expensive, or stylish but unpractical just shut up and search for videos that are more up your alley.
2
how much would it be worth to you? 500$? bad luck kid, need to save more pocket money for one of the most up market luxury cars on this planet.
2
he can't drive for shit. the rs6 is faster to 60 than this.
2
it's a carbon fiber hybrid from BMW. it doesn't get any better than that. if porsche would build a 911 out of carbon and build in the most advanced hybrid system plus all the luxury, design and materials like in their other cars would you call that entry level? the nasty japanese cars that you people buy in the US are a joke. nowhere els in the world would people say "mhh I wonder if I should by that lexus and not the BMW". only in america^^ luxury in the US means making something bigger and more expensive. you guys should really not judge anyone.
2
bucketslash11 you don't know what ironic means, do you?
2
Emanuele Pinna thanks sherlock
2
sliwka621 what broke? where did the car break down? the video clearly shows that the i3 worked perfectly even without electricity.
2
sliwka621 "malfunctioned"? do you always use words without knowing what they mean? the range extender solely powered the car and the car made it back to the UK without even one hick up. so where did it malfunction? you fucking moron.
2
sliwka621 there was no problem. the mechanics only said what bmw always said. the range extender extends the range but is not designed to drive the car all the time. so it might stop working every minute. but a after a road trip of what, 1000km or so it still worked. great. btw the message said that it's possible to keep driving but that the car should be serviced. nothing more. btw all german manufacturers use german electronics for the car itself. go to dresden when you want to see the german silicon valley with your own eyes. most electronics comes from there.
2
ewt415 no of course not. that was really just a cheap try. I'm sorry. what I wanted to say is that some run of the mill japanese afterbirth, modeled after european cars, but fucked up the design anyways, with the usual japanese luxury and prestige that they are known for is clearly better. "BMW goods" LOL what was I thinking? all that nonsense about great cars and driving pleasure is just propaganda. as long as a car is expensive and has a big engine it's clearly better. why use new technology and sensible pricing if others are able to build more expensive cars.
2
who said that exhaust holes are necessary to be perfect? eg. electric cars don't ave any exhausts so they can't be perfect cars? strange argument.
2
so destroying our planet is not as big a problem to you than your convenience of having to stop for 15 minutes every couple of hundred miles?
2
@Daedalus294 there is no "american audi" so do your own if you like.
2
Samuel Brooks wow a 20k car with an interior of a 70k car. that's amazing. I'd love that.
1
ACS607 the altea is the first car at nothing. nothing at all. it didn't do anything new or first and you are the only person on the planet who makes this strange claim. there is no category of cars called sporty mpv. is this a spanish nationalist thing or something? I don't get it. why would anyone fight over such nonsense? a car as big as a golf but with more headroom for people who like to sit in their cars wearing hats. what on earth makes you believe that this is something different from all the rest? the golf plus and every other mpv is basically exactly that. "sporty mpv" in contrast to unsporty mpv's? how is it more sporty? if you are the sole person on the planet who just invented this category could you explain that a little bit. is the altea faster on the track than other mpv's? no, right. so what did seat invent? a new marketing name for something that really isn't anything new? yes, it's probably that and you have fallen for it (or invented it, I can't find anything about sporty mpvs so I'm not sure where you get this from). btw I can tell you that nothing has ever happened at seat that didn't happen at VW first. even the engineers are mostly from VW. the entire tech in and around the car is VW. nothing happens at seat that isn't signed by VW. they use the VW supply companies for basically most parts of the car. and to call you up on your little lies. the prototype of the altea is from 2003 and the car came out 2004 just like the golf plus. so not 2005. what do you think you win by lying about such dates that are really easy to find anyway? the ibiza doesn't use the PQ35 platform so why would you bring this up. I never said anything about PQ25. you try to put words in my mouth and call me a liar? what sort of idiot are you? and what's the LED nonsense all about. I lost the context? do you think it's something worth mentioning or where was I wrong about the LED's that I never mentioned? you are a strange troll, I have to say.
1
ACS607 what sort of a information free blah blah comment was that? do you have anything to say or do you just want to have the last word?
1
ewt415 you mean apart from the carbon cell and how light it is? what exactly do you think puts a car ahead of another car? your stupid electronic info systems? I bet you reduce every car to these media play things, like the 10 year old that you are. if it could only play cod you would think it's the best car ever right?
1
ewt415 a lighter car rides better, drives better, accelerates better, breaks better and uses less fuel. not to mention the impact safety or possible use of an electric drive (battery) as an engine option just like in an S class
1
it's 3rd and then 2nd. buy yourself some new eyes.
1
the interiour looks a bit shit and old too.
1
the bonnet looks like a cheap cut out job. you can clearly imagine the discussion between the designers and the financial people. what a shame that the designers lost.
1
Alert64 the i3 is largely constructed by recycled materials. that's the entire point of the thing. even the factories are green compared to normal factories. so this clearly shows that you have no idea what you are talking about and that you talk out of your arse.
1
if lexus wouldn't be behind all the others in recent reliability studies such as TUV then that would still make no sense. why buy an overpriced toyota that looks ugly over a merc? are you a pensioner who wears beige shorts because you have given up on style?
1
Maad Dan thank you for your statistical meaningfull data (the rover with the ticking noise and the old vehicles in you region). I will recommend you for the position of meaningless cherry-picked data analyst at the famous fudged statistics university.
1
Kneedragon1962 it's embarrassing because the power to weight ratio is the same and the bentley has 4 wheel drive and it still loses. not only that but also by 3 seconds. that's embarrassing.
1
sliwka621 if your computer shows you a meaningless error message where you just press OK but nothing goes wrong or breaks down would you say your computer broke down? you idiot.
1
bezor Ta find one person on this planet who would argue that the porsche is ugly or at least not stylish and luxurious. not even ferrari fans would make such a comment. as a joke yes but seriously, no. the porsche is beautiful and well made car with almost no shortcomings. there is no denying.
1
fugly
1
lol all those haters "test it in the dry". yes and then? only pussies like nice-weather- vehicles. that car works at a wet track on summer tires and the bike doesn't. thats a fair test. bikes are shit. if you have to wait for nice weather or if you need to change the tires all the time then the bike is just no good. buy a car instead.
1
yes, google you lazy arse.
1
@dashcam2417 then buy an electric car with range extender like the BMW i3. it can go forever just on the petrol range extender but for 99.9% of the time most people could be happy with just 50 km of battery range. this stupidness with enormous battery packs, that weight a ton and cost a fortune is so unnecessary. no electric car needs more than 50 km of range. if you want to drive further, fit a range extender or buy a train ticket.
1
those lexus cars are so dam ugly. japanese style is shit.
1
it is.
1
this is the best car/value money can buy right now.
1
well the designe is clearly stolen from VW. especially the form of the headlights and the grill.
1
it looks dull
1
those tires look really great. nice job. p.s. come on mat do the BMW 3 series, please!
1
because the dsg doesn't have any problems. the transmission has nothing to do with golfs and this is a new car that is not even on the road and if you can drive a car you wouldn't buy an automatic in the first place, except if you are disabled. so why, oh why would you like to make every believe that the car is somehow bad? please, fan boy, tell me what is your problem? do you get paid for this or is it just fun to make a little propaganda? does that make you feel important once in a lifetime?
1
it's the same as the porsche
1
this colour and those wheels are not exactly sexy. they don't do the car justice.
1
ah Leipzig. but you drove the porsche at the wrong part of the city^^there are nicer places in Leipzig where you actually see porsches in "real live";)
1
the trunk space is not affected by the batteries since they are mounted under the floor. the hybrid has a worse MPG than the BMW and only marginally more than the audi. JD power is a shitty biased company just google jd power controversy and other related problems. people who quote jd have no idea what they are talking about. btw. next time keep your fan-boyish comments to yourself. if you buy an ugly IS it's purely your bad decision. don't try to talk other down.
1
don't like the looks
1
this looks so hideous...
1
@badman2504 well i could build a rocket for 2000£ which would bost me on my 20£ inliners from 0 to 60 2,5 seconds (even in the wet) but that wasn't my point.
1
look at where the parts are made. where most of the engineering comes from and how it looks. (yes, right.. it doesn't look like a soviet traktor anymore). so its more or less french.
1
the front is way to big. looks very odd
