electric vehicles are not more efficient. battery losses alone are 30%. power transfer to your house another 20%. have you ever used an electric vehicle? to fill the battery you pay top dollar. it's more expensive per mile to drive electric than gas in most countries.

actually they protected their costumers from government overregulation. their engines are powerfull and efficient and still cleaner than engines just 5 years ago. today there is better technology but buck when they did that there wasn't. no car runs clean all the time. you drive up a hill in high gear, you create smoke. you start your engine on a cold day and drive away immediately. smoke. the fuel you use sub paar. smoke. so what do you want. no power and no efficiency, using lots a gas or a bit of smoke sometimes.

then have fun using your electric motor in a car without electricity. see for yourself how useful that efficiency is.

modern mpg are measured not at constant speed but at a more realistic variable speed including occasional breaking. so you get better mpg as advertised if traffic allows it. so your old junk heap does not get better mpg and it certainly is not cleaner. it's not the mpg's that kills people by pollution of the air.

audi already has a 48V battery in most of their cars. it's just better and more reliable than a 12V alone. so the only thing they added here is one motor-compressor. quite simple solution for the age old problem of turbo lag.

@rashadarbab2769 watch the real world range tests. the tayan has the same real world range as the newest teslas despite being a sports car. engineering explained did his video based on the wrong US range numbers.

in real world range tests the Porsche Taycan has better range than the Model 3 and about the same range as Model S (depending on speed maybe 5-10% less) and that's all that really matters.

the piston goes down and then up again. every loss by creating the low pressure is made up for by using the low pressure to get the piston back up again. like an air spring. no losses. just think about it and stop making assumptions about 'efficiency' and 'limited circumstances' if you don't know what you are talking about.
