  1. electric vehicles are not more efficient. battery losses alone are 30%. power transfer to your house another 20%. have you ever used an electric vehicle? to fill the battery you pay top dollar. it's more expensive per mile to drive electric than gas in most countries.

  3. modern mpg are measured not at constant speed but at a more realistic variable speed including occasional breaking. so you get better mpg as advertised if traffic allows it. so your old junk heap does not get better mpg and it certainly is not cleaner. it's not the mpg's that kills people by pollution of the air.

  4. the piston goes down and then up again. every loss by creating the low pressure is made up for by using the low pressure to get the piston back up again. like an air spring. no losses. just think about it and stop making assumptions about 'efficiency' and 'limited circumstances' if you don't know what you are talking about.
