  1. When the ground has dried out, it could be a different story. The Russians have their forces in place and will be able to spread out. There can be no winners in this conflict. It just needs to stop, and the warring parties got round a table. The Russian demands were not unreasonable: no EU, no NATO and a redrawing of Stalin's borders, which also include bits of Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. The Russian mistake was to step up the war. This is not a conflict outsiders should take a sides over.
