  4. If you think that the purpose of an economy is to make stuff and flog it to foreigners, then the boycott of Russian goods is bad for Russians. However, it is we in the west who are paying the price in energy costs and soon, food shortages. Cold people will get angry.

  6. The west has not imposed sanctions. It has applied a boycott. Since the boycott encompasses a range of essential supplies, the main losers are the economies of Western countries. This is the classic self harming behaviour as we have come to expect. The underlying issue is Mercantilist thinking which misleads people into thinking that money is wealth. The falsity of Mercantilism was exposed nearly 300 years ago but it refuses to die.
