  1. Nobody has asked the Swedes. The Swedish government hasn't had the confidence to put the issue of NATO membership to a referendum. Support is lukewarm despite all the attempts by the media to drum up the Russophobia. Sweden has kept out of alliances for over 200 years. The policy has served the country well. Our geography makes us of minimal strategic importance. When the costs are revealed and conscription is reintroduced, people will realise what a historic mistake this is. It also needs to be remembered that a significant proportion of the younger generation would not support being in an alliance with the USA.
