  1.  @tubemonks  Carbon dioxide diffuses due to molecular movement so it is fairly evenly spread. If all the carbon dioxide separated out it would form a layer about 3 metres thick at the surface. That said, the whole concept of greenhouse gases is a misnomer. Greenhouses do not affect radiation. Sit in a greenhouse on a cold clear night and you will freeze. You are probably right to say that water vapour is the most important substance which holds in heat. The main instrument of climate change (if it is a genuine phenomenon) is probably deforestation. The severity of the floods is mostly due to fast run off in the Pennines because of EU-subsidised sheep farming, which means that the land cannot act as a sponge.

  2.  @mathrocksucks  The "refugees" who arrived in 2015 mostly turn out not to have been refugees at all. They have bust the Swedish government and are behind the crime wave. That is quite a lot to be afraid of, don't you think?

  3. The entire tax system is a structure of fines and penalties for successfully engaging in legal economic activity. If you argue that taxes should be based on ability to pay, and equate 'ability to pay' with incomes, this is the result.Taxes on wages, goods, services and imports are all theft. Which leaves land value taxation as the only way of raising public revenue which is not theft. That is the Singapore and Taiwan way. But the last time there was a suggestion of change, the private member's bill was squeezed out of parliamentary time. Root and branch reform is needed.

  4. Get rid of the Eurotax,VAT. It is probably the most damaging and inefficient tax ever invented. The true yield is probably little more than a third of the headline figure. It is a major government expense in its own right.

These uplands should be managed so that rain is held back, by planting more trees and constructing holding lakes, which makes the land act like a giant sponge.

We have had enough problems with these streams of people in Sweden. Many of them are unassimilable and will never be able to support themselves in the UK. There are fifty other countries in the world where they would fit in perfectly well.

  20. We in Sweden are going to wake up on 1st February to find goods from the UK stuck in customs. Then we will be asked to pay VAT plus a £7 handling charge on every package from the UK. But it is the Irish who will get the nastiest shock. Hopefully, the whole wretched EU will start to unravel.

  21. Ridiculous. When they are handed over to UK Border Force they should be arrested, handed over to the police on landing, charged with illegally entering the country and remanded in custody. It would take just a couple of boatloads to be dealt with in the way and the flow would cease.

  23. Cable broadband is 1990s technology. We all use wireless for the last bit of the connection so what does it matter if our devices are connected to a wireless box in one's own home or a mast up the street? There are few places without access to broadband internet via 4G.
