  2. Please refine the debate. Different taxes have different effects. There are different ways of cutting a particular tax. The burden of taxes generally does not fall on whoever is formally responsible for paying it. The Laffer Curve is borderline nonsense but there is a grain of truth in the theory. Inflation is taxation by the back door; so is Quantitative Easing. These are taxes on savings. Until there is a better understanding of these matters by politicians, economists, commentators and the general public, it will make next to no difference who is elected. We will continue to lurch ruinously from crisis to crisis.
