  2. It is doable. If the boundaries are sensibly drawn and the rules are carefully drafted so that the system is hard to game. Differential tax thresholds would be more beneficial than differential rates of tax. A national Land Value Tax would be the best way to compensate for regional disadvantages. Parts of the South East and even Greater London suffer from poor infrastructure.

  9. It now takes six weeks to get English language textbooks into Sweden now, if they arrive at all. Moat advanced courses are taught in English. A university librarian was complaining to me about this only last week.

  10. VAT is the most damaging and inefficient tax there is. NI is a tax on jobs. Income Tax is payroll tax in disguise. Real wages = Net Pay. VAT is mostly a tax on business, disguised as a tax on consumers.

  11. Global minimum tax is good. 0% tax on wages, goods, services, incomes and profits. These taxes are nothing but robbery, pure and simple. Which should also be a global maximum tax. The UK should have scrapped the Eurotax the day it left the EU. Time to get rid of VAT now. It would be hard to devise a more damaging and inefficient tax - a German invention which hits GDP by at least 5% and is a solid obstacle to growth. VAT undermines the revenue from other taxes. With raging price rises, the country cannot afford this absurd tax. WEF should take a long walk in the alps.

  12. The burden of Income Tax and NICS is on employers. They have exactly the same effect as a payroll tax. An increase in personal allowances would be beneficial though it is really just tinkering with a bigger problem. VAT needs to be scrapped. It is probably the most damaging and inefficient tax ever inflicted on a country. It steals revenue which would have been collected by other taxes.
