  1. It would work like this: all leather production would cease until a sustainable way to produce leather emerged. This would basically mean a leather production facility would get water one time for production, and clean and reuse this water. Otherwise horrible toxins will be released into the environment. Failing this the oil barons would be happy that all shoes were made of plastic. Then they would work hard to make plastic more like leather, even if that meant releasing horrible toxins into the environment. And we would become extinct.
