  1. At least two sides to this question. If this law does require local police to do the job of ICE. Your local cops, instead of working to keep safe the people who pay them, will be profiling people, running down documents, transporting people to ICE detention, taking days to go to court, and just waiting around for ICE gears to grind. DeSantis should have just added some millions of dollars to get more officers, because last I heard, even the best police officers can only be in one place at a time, doing one job at a time. Trump laid off thousands of workers in ICE and Border control and has not replaced any of them despite the crisis he has created at the border. Trump is attacking the sanctuary cities for political points, but also stealing from local tax dollars. And after all, what does any declaration of sanctuary city even do?
