I'm 73 and I worked on this in the early days, here in the USA. It's not been about science in a very long time, it's about money. Money buys politicians, heart soul, and mind. The cruel and sadistic rich and big business own enough politicians to control the government. I kept asking myself why very rich people would want to be elected to public office. It's not so they can represent the people, that's for sure. Oh yes, a few beleaguered people in government are trying to save the world, but they find out more every day how hopeless it is.
