It is not. You put it in, you get it back at retirement. Look o you check stub. The money taken out for Social Security is saved for you, with interest and at retirement it is paid back in monthly checks. That's why no two people's checks are the same. Cut, cut, cut. Except, with no explanation, they now must, must, musk, raise the debt limit. If the budget is balanced by taking money from all the people, why raise the debt limit?
