God created bacteria with more than one route to become antibiotic resistant. Most antibiotics are created as quick as possible to get that money flowing. They aren't looking for a better way to kill bacteria, just another product to make billions from. Now that they can pay to have drugs approved no matter if they have even been tested or not, and charge any amount for them, drug companies will just do that. There is no sane reason why research should not continue for new antibiotics except that there are greener pastures elsewhere. Humira, the first approved monoclonal antibody, sells for $76,000/year. It had sales of 23 billion dollars in 2021.
