  1. My former boss flew a Huey in Vietnam. No weapons except some 38 revolvers and a couple of grease guns which they used to fire if the landing zone was hot. They did fire at a NVA prop plane once, probably an AN-2 Colt, but with no noticeable effect. He crashed two helicopters due to enemy fire, no injuries to speak of. But one night the NVA attacked his base and a light mortar round went through the roof of his hooch and exploded in the storage room, which was filled with steel lockers and ammo boxes. He was sleeping on the floor which probably saved his life. He was discharged with shrapnel wounds and some hearing loss in one ear.
