  1. Japan was actually also losing due to guerilla warfare from the Koreans, so it’s going to remain a bloody struggle for power even without Yi. All removing Yi does is making supporting Japanese troops easier.

  2. King Utopus The Koreans did not lose their entire country even during the first invasion. Much of the Northwest and Southeast were still under Korean control. And what happens if they do win completely in Korea? Move into China and lose even worse.

  3. Nicholas Nguyen Did I say Yi wasn’t important? You also can’t really win a guerrilla war ‘swiftly’, and the Japanese were unlikely to make concessions to the Koreans to gain their support. The only thing it does is make the Japanese campaign not completely doomed.

  5. Clee4000 TBF, China would be taken over by the Qing in a couple decades, the Manchus were becoming an existential threat. They didn’t even send all that many to help Korea during the Imjin War.
