@theamazing2435 I think the opposite. In Latin America ‘doing their own thing’ has meant protectionism and socialism, which has hampered Latin America economically.

28:13 Nero was an incredibly popular emperor. Note that the records regarding Nero were largely written by the groups that hated him (elites and Christians), so that negatively influences our perception of a man who, at minimum, doesn’t appear to have been that bad (probably.) Also, he turned out to be a girl and be able to be summoned as a Servant, but what do I know about that?

@jackyex Bolivia, Cuba, Venezuela? Raise any bells?

29:33 That has a lot of do with what Rome was facing at the time (massive barbarian invasions, internal economic collapse due to the collapse of the trade system.) Hence, why East Rome was able to survive and live for another millennia longer.

@tompeled6193 Note that very few historical sources really survive from back then, so we can only make inferences based on the few bits of data we have.

@ఉత్పాదక24 Lol @ the Indian nationalist. India’s ‘unified’ power never conquered the south until the Brits came along.

@ఉత్పాదక24 More like the Afghans conquered North India, which is why they held those lands… :P Your point is contradicted by the large number of foreign dynasty Indian States, especially in North India (Eg. The Delhi Sultuate and Mughals). Also, you said ‘unified’ India, which is contradicted by the fact South and East India were rarely under the control of the dominant Indian power at the time.

@ఉత్పాదక24 Those are either ancient (predating Christ) or never united India (not even close). So that kind of proves my point of India not being a historical superpower and only being unified by foreigners.

@jackyex My argument was that Socialist nations in Latin America do poorly, and ‘doing your own thing’ in Latin America has meant native nationalism (Bolivia) and socialism. How is that the exception?
