  1. Space colonization only works well for equatorial nations due to launch vehicles relying on using the Earth’s equatorial spin to reach space more cheaply. Alaska and Australia will never be the main hubs for space colonization. Even things like Orbital Rings tend to work better for equatorial nations than polar ones. However, the melting of the Arctic could allow the rivers of the Arctic to be useful for commerce, and people could slowly thaw the permafrost using solar mirrors into new habitable lands.

  2. Considering Ocean Colonization will likely happen before Space colonization, Japan+Korea+Taiwan+Philippines (The Asian Littoral) could also split off into partially its own thing like America.

  3.  @williamchristy9463  Alaska isn’t. And honestly, it doesn’t change geopolitics the way he thinks it will. The US has decent access to the equatorial band. It’s Europe and Russia that have more problems getting to space (unless they reconquer Central Asia- Russia only launches from Baikonur because of the Soviet/National Security legacy.
