  4. Michael O No cities have everything- for one, most cities don’t have Olympic Villages lying around they can use. The issue is more if they can be reused after the Olympics. Here in Vancouver, a Curling Rink was turned into a community center. Few cities have large enough curling rinks available for Winter Olympics.

Trump is more Reagan 2.0, but less religious and more assholish. Both pretty much heralded a new era of Conservatism despite being hated by much of the population at the time. Trudeau, is definitely dumber than Trump though. And he's barely worked a day in his life until he was elected.

Marx was wrong: if the ultimate end of capitalism is socialism, as he viewed it, the poor would live worse than the serfs of the 18th century, and all advanced societies would be socialist. The fact that that hasn't happened yet shows his argument has serious flaws- and this was something known even back before the dawn of the 20th century. Not to mention the fact that any serious attempt to actually 'seize the means of production' instead of simply skimming off wealth in a social welfare system has failed on the long run.

  10. Gary Lee If you trust China’s official GDP numbers, that is. The current estimates from independent sources is that GDP growth is likely overstated by 1%/year. And debt load in China is reaching USA levels despite lower ability to pay. They’re about to hit a 2008 crisis.

  11. Ale Mangold It is about dominance- partially. Empire is a stretch. For example, S Korea is allowed to do whatever it wants, within limits. Britain and the Sauds can get involved in its own civil wars overseas (and have). And yes, other nations can get involved in our civil wars. It didn't happen for the most part- largely because France was in war with Mexico at the time, and Britain didn't want to completely piss off the Union if things went awry. thank god there was only one.

  18. FHD فَهِد Look at my previous comment. The entire point of guns in the constitution is to prevent tyranny anyways, and enable a successful  uprising. If Trump is so much like Hitler, don't you think it would be better to own guns in case? Also, WHY is a gun bad in an emergency situation? A robber is going to hesitate if you approach him with a gun, because the stakes are higher, and he could actually die. It's why they're afraid of police. The possibility of punishment.

The President is not a king, he's the president. Even if Trump wanted to launch a nuke, he couldn't, because the role of president is more of proposing and vetoing Bills, and being a public figure. IF anything, he's been more anti-war than almost anyone else in the 2016 election. If Hillary was in power, I would be a lot more worried about being drafted than I am now.

Corporations are not there for the benefit of the economy. It just happens that they generally do, ie. Capitalism, because they have much higher efficiency levels in a forced competitive environment than government. '08 was caused by the COMBINATION of low interest rates, government (and government sponsored corporation) housing stimulus, lower financial regulations, dumb faith, and too much debt sloshing around that never was cleared from the '90s. No one side can be blamed for the crisis, because everyone was at fault. If any one piece didn't play, '08 wouldn't be the crisis it was. Which is why I'm skeptical of his protectionism, because that's why those rarely end up being good on the long term. Also, Obama put in a crap ton of laws that essentially legalize propaganda and silence whistleblowers I doubt he's about to close up. Well, we've already seen Putin want closer ties with the USA, so you should get ready to eat your words.

Good for him, but closing loopholes isn't likely because they've been opened by corrupt politicians to buy favors. And in any case, the rich actually consider the USA a tax haven because of those loopholes.As soon as they go, bet your ass they're heading out with their tax $$$. There's no easy solution.

It’s part of the reason Religion is declining, which tries to do the same thing (instruct morality).
