  2. Yes, because of the industrial capitalists, the poor are poorer than ever! Marx was wrong: if the ultimate end of capitalism is socialism, as he viewed it, the poor would live worse than the serfs of the 18th century, and all advanced societies would be socialist. The fact that that hasn't happened yet shows his argument has serious flaws- and this was something known even back before the dawn of the 20th century. Not to mention the fact that any serious attempt to actually 'seize the means of production' instead of simply skimming off wealth in a social welfare system has failed on the long run.
