@benjaminchristianhay Shuttle ended up becoming one, but it is a warning to how NOT to build a rocket. Even the SLS and Saturn IB ended up being cheaper than the Shuttle. (Saturn IB: 16mil/mt, Shuttle: 21.3/mT, SLS: <13.3mil/mT). It’s not government pork, it’s just bad design. What’s the primary difference between Saturn and SLS vs Shuttle that made the former so much cheaper than the latter? The former were specialized to do one job very well. Shuttle was trying to be a jack of all trades, making it overly complex. Which is what Starship is attempting.
