  1. Thing is that Russia isn’t in the top 5 producers for most of the metals at 1:05. New Caledonia and Greenland could be able to ramp up nickel production. The biggest issue is that China produces the majority of the world’s Zinc and a huge amount of the world’s copper. So new Wind turbines may be off the table soon. Solar and Nuclear look like the way future, with maybe deep geothermal if the technology gets good enough.

  2.  @danwall9301  Methane still produces CO2 when burned. Also, clathrates are kind of like Kerogen for Oil- a holy grail of energy with a million and a half problems that have never been solved. Even with pressure vessels, you also have to ensure the calthrates remain stable. Shale isn’t being extracted in most of the world, and there’s still a ton of deep water oil and gas reserves underused.

  3. If we can get economically viable CCS, that might change the picture.
