  1.  @leonceboudreauxwolf  exactly what happened in parts of Texas. Where I lived it was voted number one place in Texas to live in for several years. We had 50k people. Now, it is over 250k people and has dropped to like 28th. Many rural places where homes were inexpensive and could be bought for 50k realtors and investors buy them to flip then people who needed the affordable housing can't afford them. Many times they knock down the house to sell just the land. People don't have the opportunity to fix it up themselves.

  2.  @bigd9260  where I am about to move to there is one restaurant and a Dollar Tree in the whole town. All 12 streets of it. Haha It will take awhile for even a Dairy Queen to move in. 😁

  3. My mom was from California and my dad was from Texas. We lived in Texas most of my life. If my accent started to slip out she would slap my mouth and say you'll never get a job sounding like that. I worked in HR and during a meeting a woman older than me, I was in my early twenties, said "it's not fixin', it is about to." Luckily, my boss said "this isn't up north and it is very common here." Many teachers and other people have tried to remove the way southerners speak.

  12. I hope you go to Robeson County, NC and speak to the Melungeons and Lumbee tribe. Newman's Ridge in Tennessee is also known for being mostly Melungeon families.
