My grandparents and great grandparents built homes side by side in Ft Worth, TX. It was an all white neighborhood that I felt safe in when I visited in the 70s. Integration came and now that neighborhood is a dangerous neighborhood filled with gang members. Same house, same neighborhood, two different experiences. Poor black people get to live in homes that are safe if a tornado hits. Poor white people live in boxes/trailers that disintegrate if a tornado hits. Every single neighborhood my ancestors lived in are now crime ridden neighborhoods filled with gang members. It is the people who are doing the damage not the homes they live in.
