  3.  @WofulAverage8  In some ways better.... in some ways worse. In the US there is the 2nd Amendment which makes society more tense. In the UK, it's like people are trying to do their best without being too idealistic. The surveillance thing is too much..... Nature should be valued. What's the alternative if extremism of authoritarianism gets it's way? A Shenzhen style dystopia. . One extreme example of the UK judicial system which would shock people in the US is a Police officer named Andrew Harper got his foot trapped in a tow rope of a fleeing car. The culprits, 3 uneducated young males, deliberately dragged him at 60 mph for over a mile and basically excoriated him to death. In the US that would be the death penalty or full life in a SuperMax, correct? In the UK the perps grinned and laughed at the cameras and are estimated to get 8 years in jails ....which are more humane......with amenities etc..... . Ok . Another extreme example the other way. The Police targetted a car and essentially assassinated the occupant, Yassar Yaqub. In the US the Police would conduct a felony stop and only shoot defensively. There is an MO which is followed. . Another example that would shock people in the US is the Jean Charles de Menezes shooting. Sadly the family should have been treated better and a full apology given. In the US the shooters, officers, would have been jailed. . All in all, the UK is less Draconian but has a tendency to over react sometimes. It really should realise it is setting an example internationally of a free, fair society...... the best the world has to offer.
