  3. $400,000 and it breaks down in a truly awful place. I broke down near Oakland on a bridge where the 80 and 580 merge, and ended up running across 8 lanes of traffic at night to escape......really frightening....... Stopped cars on fast roads, especially dark cars at night = dangerous. No hard shoulder = frightening.

  5.  @kevinsedwards  It's crazy there is no hard shoulder !!! I was in panic mode. Straddling concrete barriers !!!??? With cars whizzing by 8pm traffic.....waiting for a break like Frogger..... . The bad infrastructure forced me into doing that I had no choice.

  11. Instead of trying to oppress it, why not control it for profit, create an organisation responsible for such events and tax it? If they don't "blow off stream" doing that, they may do worse things? Look at The Isle of Man TT. Figure out a compromised solution for profit
