hypocrisy National identities are ultimately illusions..... like company names. Scottish bagpipes came from the Middle East. The kilt as worn at all manner of formal functions in Scotland today was invented, it is believed, by an Englishman, Thomas Rawlinson, a Quaker from Lancashire. Modern Clan tartans, which now exist for each and every Scottish surname, were first developed by the Victorians The first documented record of whisky originates from Ireland. St Andrew: born in Galilee around 6 BC, Scotland's patron saint never even set foot in Scotland. A dish called ‘haggas’ was referred to in an English cookery text dating from 1615 – predating the dish’s popularity in Scotland by more than 150 years. etc.......

@TheAuldBob The word Scotland is from Italians. The Romans coined the word Scot to describe a tribe that sailed from Ireland to raid the British mainland. Over time, the Latin ‘Scoti’, was applied as the naming term for all Gaelic tribes and, eventually, the land north of the River Forth became known as Scotia.

@Curtis Rupp History isn't the topic. In an era where international commercial dependence defines society, where international companies evading taxes define the high street.... the nationalist identities people fought and died over, have effectively dissolved into stereotypes for international commerce.

@fl00fydragon DEFINITIONS "Nationalism is an ideology and movement that promotes the interests of a particular nation (as in a group of people) especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining the nation's sovereignty (self-governance) over its homeland." Wikipedia "Nationalism, ideology based on the premise that the individual’s loyalty and devotion to the nation-state surpass other individual or group interests." Britannica Point is... Nations are feudalist concepts that dissolved in a global economy and modern i international companies are the contemporary equivalent.

@fl00fydragon Point is.........nationalism is an idea, based in feudalism for security. Commerce now is global and international. Ideally people should pay a world tax instead of empowering tax evasion. Problem is... rich control politicians and all are evading taxes en masse . That overseas capital is invested in Chinese weaponized manufacturing with the goal of global dominance and the destruction of democracy. So western society has cheap goods, all Chinese, the capital becomes extremely polarised, unprecedented debt increases...... this is the goal : divide and conquer by the CCP. Simultaneously due to the loss of manufacturing to China, vast IP theft by China Britain is going to get 5G, using Chinese technology. The Confucius Classroom in in schools to indoctrinate western kids to be open to Chinese policy and dominance. Italy, the same country that named Scotland and brought Britain civilisation recently signed the BRI agreement with China. Chinese Police were recently picture patrolling in Venice alongside Italian Police. Nationalism could even be seen as a psychological tool to control civilisation for the benefits of a rich minority.
