  13. People say that, but British culture has been increasing liberal since the 17thC - there are lots of liberal things we agree on. Would you approve of children of 12 to go to work, or dog fighting, or flogging, for instance? What we have now is not true liberalism, you can only have that when the demographics support a single culture. Today we have 'liberalism' towards the illiberal, and licentiousness. People use 'liberal' as a pejorative when they mean 'leftist'. It's an American usage from when the word 'socialist' was too terrible to use in public.

'Crusade' is a term used to mean any great collective effort to achieve something worthwhile, and understood as such by everyone except Muslims who see it exclusively as a war against them. It was always 'a small minority of extremists', NEVER the core tenets of islam that was blamed for terrorism. The reverence for Islam in Iraq and Afghanistan by coalition forces demonstrated it wasn't against Islam. Servicemen were punished for 'abusing' Qurans, and Sharia was explicitly inserted into the new constitution of Iraq. Obama removed all references to Jihad and Islam from FBI counter-terror training material. Moreover, the establishments of the West have been happy to use the term 'Islamophobia' to demonize non-Muslims as a protection for islam against criticism.
