  2. I was 20 in 1979 there was no feeling in the UK that the Shah of Iran was a bad guy to be removed - he bought British weapons for one thing. It's difficult to imagine a scenario then where the Ayatollah would have been seen as a better prospect. Who benefited from that?

  3.  @renzo5282  That's not the point, the west didn't and the interviewer believes the west removed him I'm sure the Shah's era looks like a golden age to Iranians now. Be careful what you wish for.
