Europe doesn’t seem to be particularly bothered by the authoritarian regimes in Hungary and Poland. Perhaps that’s because governments in Europe and the west are becoming increasingly authoritarian too.

@thecringeinspector5636 assuming what he’s saying is true. It could be propaganda. There’s plenty of antipathy all over Europe for Ukraine. I see Ukrainians on benefits going abroad for holidays twice a year, I work full time and haven’t been able to afford to go aboard for 4 years and there’s plenty of people in worse conditions than me

Why are you surprised that people don’t like corruption and mafia influence in politics? The idea that they should choose that because the alternative are baddies is laughable

@Rigel_6 you should see the British government. I don’t think Portugal’s it France’s government’s are much better either. There’s a rising crisis on politics, and historically when this happens, it usually leads to one or both of two things: Revolution or War.

Perhaps they don’t want to sully nato and weaken it by having one of the most corrupt countries in the world as a member. Or perhaps they recognised that any further expansion to Russia’s borders would be seen by Russia as an existential threat and that wouldn’t be great for the region that they live next to.
