Ruud Klaver yeah but Belgians have way better food I'm afraid. And I love Holland

That’s pure capitalism for you

Not Just Bikes Road safety really isn't something corporate advertisers want us to know about

Wim Ahlers imagine the USA had as much canals and waterways per capita as the Netherlands. How many cars would and people would end up drowning then
10
Starsten Kahl they're making them safe, not unusable. Unless you're so unskilled at driving you struggle to navigate speedbumps. In which case, you really shouldn't be driving

Wim Ahlers the regulations around private planes in America are very lax. As an example, Harrison Ford is still able to fly, despite almost crashing into a landing jumbo on the runway and having 2 mid air collisions. Then there's the kobe Bryant helicopter crash, Patrick swayze's plane crash, you can go back to buddy Holly, the list is endless. And they're just famous ones. If you weighted the number of accidents by the planes per capita I bet you'd still see a far higher rate in the USA

@Novusod absolute nonsense. Europe is a similar size and population to the USA and has great integrated transit, despite being 30 plus different countries. Russia is far bigger with less than half the population and has better transit. China only started building it’s transit systems 30 years ago and has way better transit than the USA. Americans always think there is some excuse for them being crap at things other than they’re just crap at it because everything is run for corporate profits not for people who live there.

Starsten Kahl in France they often just let the roads get potholed really badly in towns as a speed reduction measure. At least that's what the locals claim. They're shouldn't be that much traffic during a lockdown? Although so far I must say it looks like Merkel and Germany have done a great job. Like Denmark. And Vietnam, which has 1000 mile land border with China. And yet somehow even with over a months warning over most of Europe Britain and America have failed miserably to get to grips with it.

I was on business in the us and opposite the hotel on the other side of the road was a mall with shops, bars and restaurants, but to get there you had to drive 3 miles up the highway do a u turn and drive 3 miles back. I didn’t have a car obviously I’d flown in and I didn’t want to get a taxi 6 miles to cross the road, so despite being warned not to, I decided to just cross one side of the road, climb over the barriers in the middle and cross the other side of lanes going in the opposite direction. Ib don’t know if the hotel called the police but as I was climbing over the barrier a police car stopped and arrested me for jaywalking. When i explained I was British and here on business and didn’t have a car or realise I wasn’t allowed to cross the road, the let me off and have me a lift 6 miles up and down the highway to get across the road to the mall.

@seraphina985 Man, I first visited the Dam back in 92, and went back every year for the next 10 years. Recently went back for the first time in 20, and was shocked and saddened by what’s happened to the place. The prices shocked me the most, Amsterdam used to be so cheap. I even got yelled at for being a stupid tourist by a guy on a bike, which was a first for me in all my visits but unfortunately I had to agree with him. I’m glad I got to see it when I did back in the early 90s, and you won’t be unhappy to hear I’m in no hurry to come back.

@rebeccachambers4701 maybe because he has a really great gf?

@Ravioli-l3o Americans are completely brainwashed. Sadly that mentality is being pushed into Europeans by their government, Hollywood and corporate propaganda. It’s already taken over the entire carribean and much of Central America.
2
I’m sure it used to be in Germany at one point... is it in Belgium?
2
@NLTops it's a great deal, but unfortunately I'm Irish. I just know the Belgiums have great food, even the French think so
2
Personally I don't even stop at red lights.
2
@jamsya8 basle isn’t as clean as other parts of Switzerland but that’s the french for you.
2
@NLTops ah we've been through worse before to be sure. It's only a matter of time before Ireland is reunited and brexit has only speeded up the process. The DUP and Arlene Phillips have gone a long way to assist in it too. Our hills are green because we have so much rain, being stuck out in the Atlantic

Americans are brainwashed into being the most closed minded people on the planet by their government and corporations and calling it freedom, when it reality they are far less free in so many ways than most Europeans.
1
That’s the American way
1
@KleineJoop the governments are owned by USA corporations you dozy tart
1
Seems like hitting someone with your car in the US is a good way to get away with murder
1
When I was in Switzerland I saw people on 10 - 20 grand bikes and they never locked them up
1
Could be worse. The Dutch could have been showing a German flag
1
Starsten Kahl Germany didn't have a lockdown? I've a cousin in hamburg and that's not what she said
1
I think you'll find a lot of the reason is because the drivers just aren't as good. It's not just cars that crash into buildings in America either
1
Not Just Bikes yep, regular people in North America are awful drivers. Their driving test is basically once round the block, 4 turns to the passenger side and that's it. In some us states like florida they do it in car parks and not roads to reduce the number of crashes people have when taking their test. And in much of America you can drive at 15. The standard of driving is far lower and the test is far more basic. I'll guarantee that most US drivers wouldn't pass a British driving test even after ten years of experience in the US and I hear Canadians aren't much better

Geneva has too many rich foreigners that refuse to use anything but their cars, including their legs. Switzerland as a whole is so much cleaner than the USA. When you live there you really realise what a toilet most of America is, and how little most Americans care. They just repeat the freedom mantra as if that makes it automatically true.
