The CAO at SVP just so happened to be the CAO of Lehman brothers when it went under. And the CEO of SVP was also on the board of the bank of California that was underwriting SVP.

@Madame702 when interest rates are zero and have been zero for so long and there’s rising inflation there only one way they’re going, to be caught off guard by that is a blunder of the highest order. Anyone with the most basic knowledge of economics wouldn’t make that mistake

Shows what a load of nonsense their risk management is. SVP didn’t have a chief risk officer for 9 months, and it’s clear credit suisse’s material weaknesses weren’t included in their risk management calculations, and that’s not even mentioning entering that happened in 2008. Bailing out all the banks has just encouraged them into more risky behaviour because they know no matter what they do they’ll be bailed out. Days before SVP went under they paid out all their executive bonuses in full

You can't tell me that the folks in charge of a big ol' bank don't know what's goin' on with their own dang business. If it all goes belly-up, you best believe they're at least partly to blame. Ain't nobody can run a whole bank by themselves, but that don't mean they can just pass the buck when things go south. It's their job to make sure the right teams are in place and that everyone's workin' together towards the same goal. If they can't manage that, then they shouldn't be in charge in the first place. So don't go makin' excuses for 'em - if they can't handle the heat, they need to get out of the kitchen! Besides which you sound suspiciously like a government propaganda bot.

Speaking of incompetence, did you forget about the fact that the Silicon Valley Bank didn't have a Chief Risk Officer for nine months before collapsing? What a bunch of hogwash! They had plenty of warning about the increase in interest rates, it was as plain as the nose on your face!
