  1. It’s not the level of interest rates that’s the issue, it’s the level of debt and the effects rising interest rates have on them. In the 1980s, the acreage mortgage was 1/9th of your income, today it’s 1/3 and rising, and personal debt is far higher today than it was in the 1980s. Add that to the unprecedented cost of living and upcoming further lockdowns and you’ve got an unmitigated economic disaster
