@ShineyFX they are Irish, but many don’t see themselves as such. For some reason they think of themselves as British, even though they’re clearly not part of Britain and are part of Ireland. They’re part of the United Kingdom, yes, but not Britain.

@aedanokelly5794 it might surprise people to know that there’s very little support for Northern Ireland to remain part of the United Kingdom in mainland Britain these days.

@TheEsuohdla I think it’s more to do with the connotations a strong Ulster accent brings to the table when you’ve grown up with the troubles. I remember sitting outside having breakfast 3 miles from the city centre and hearing the bomb go off in Manchester. The devastation that caused was frightening. When someone with a Belfast accent told you “tell ya ma I said hello” chills went down your spine. Paradoxically that bomb was actually one of the best things to happen to Manchester. A lot of glaziers and builders in the area became millionaires from it.
