What do you mean by transformers? You’re not talking about Autobots are you?

@wisgarus thanks that’s clear as mud 😂

@IceMetalPunk aha ok thank you. So two independent engines looking at different things and then converging to come up with a combined answer? The issue will be that the Internet is full of crap and that data set will skew the results. Like those ai friend robots that start abusing people because of all the interactions with trolls they have

@IceMetalPunk yeah…I get the feeling that ai is going to fundamentally flawed from the outset and end up replicating some of the dystopian futures foretold by Azimov and Clark. It will definitely be used in nefarious ways and have unforeseen negative consequences, just like smart phones and social media

@IceMetalPunk I agree on that. However computers and robots are going to become more powerful than people, and their flaws will become more prevalent and detrimental. Think of it like bugs in a game like cyberpunk, only it won’t be a game. We could well end up wiping ourselves out before we give ourself that problem, but it’s precisely because humans are so flawed that unless things like Asimov’s robot laws are somehow introduced, ai and robots will inevitably be as flawed or more flawed than people, and when they become more powerful than people, which in certain aspects is certainly inevitable, it will become a problem.

@IceMetalPunk and again, I agree with your synopsis about humans. But it’s precisely because it’s these flawed humans that are responsible for ai development and learning that is going to lead to problems. The things that they will use ai and robots to do, the objectives they give them to pursue, and the lack of human ethical and moral oversight will become a huge issue. Have you heard of blackrock, vanguard and Aladdin?

Get a wife/daughter/maid, be a lot cheaper and far superior

@IceMetalPunk ha ha mate I read all asimovs books and the entire i robot r m series when I was a kid, didn’t think the film did them anywhere near justice tbh. If I remember rightly in the fourth book of the I robot trilogy he introduces a fourth 0 law that precedes the first 3 that goes some way ameliorating the problem. The thing about nukes or whatever tech before ai is that any mistake that harms or destroys us is going to be down to a human error and so ultimately within our control. With AI you’ve got an independent non human controlled agent, that has them potential and will in all likelihood be more powerful than humans, and by more powerful I mean able to accomplish more both mentally and physically. And the more power and control you cede to it the more potential it has to do harm without any human gatekeeping. Science fiction has a nasty habit of being unerringly accurate in its predictions, George Orwell’s 1984 is pretty much here now, and imo the warnings they give should be heeded. I don’t think they will though, but we’ll probably kill each other before ai gets the chance anyway

@IceMetalPunk lol yeah it’s obviously our fault. My point is it will make decisions and carry out actions of its own accord without human interaction
