  2. Media in particular newspapers were a lot more independent and had a larger range of diverse opinions and content in those days. There were hundreds of completely independent and separate companies who owned them, the same was true for television and radio. Now over 90% of media is owned by just 5 companies, and blackrock and vanguard who own each other have major shares in all of them

  5. You studied in London didn’t you? London is not the U.K., and while there are many dumb people in the U.K., thanks to the Americanisation of our society, institutions and culture, they still pale in comparison to the general dumbness of Americans on the whole

  7.  @angelmarauder5647  don’t disagree with you at all but even in the 60s there are a lot of fiercely independent news and media organisations that weren’t beholden to anyone. The USA was still very much in touch with its roots back then.
