@honyasenyou i don't know, Germany has decent tanks and lost the biggest tank battle of world war 2 to Russia
29
@TheLateOreo you sound very bitter
20
@maverick1654 of course they were. And if only they'd been allowed to attack Russia they'd have defeated them and all their t34s. Pull the other one mate the Japanese couldn't even defeat the British in Burma and got their arses kicked by moa in China
11
@maverick1654 I think the t34 and Zhukov might have had something to do with it. I dare say you'll tell me that Japanese tanks were far superior
9
Pretty sure there's far more morons and imbeciles in the USA today than then
6
@arrancaal oh right that old trope again. That's all they did is it? I'm ashamed people like you are city fans, just another plastic glory hunter who's never been to Manchester. Also never heard of sloping armour which stopped plenty of German shells you halfwit
5
@maverick1654 they did want to test the h bomb as well as the a bomb but I don't think Japan did surrender after the first bomb. Only going after pearl harbour half cocked and not sending all your aircraft turned out not to be such a idea after all. That commander after that battle was certainly right
5
@Ramschat natural resources? The Germans occupied and controlled all of western Europe and half the east for over 4 years. The Russians were just better at mass producing tanks because they designed them to be good enough to be able to be produced and maintained quickly and easily. They worked out that the average lifespan of tanks on the Eastern front was 6 months and almost half the German tanks were breaking down. They pursued a more effective strategy
4
No wonder they had that revolution
3
If only French men had the courage of their women they wouldn't have had to have been rescued so many times, something that they're eternally ungrateful for
3
His English sounds Australian to me, or possibly South African or Rhodesian. Either way, hardly perfect
3
You can thank the CIA for that
3
@lesfox2010 to be fair they suprised a few Americans when their quite effective cars turned up in previously hitherto considered impossible terrain. Still not convinced they would have won a tank war against the Russians.
2
After missing fishing vessels with over 300 shells they should have just not bothered

MrKfq269 that's the American education system for you

A famous German comedian? And people actually fell for that?
1
@lesfox2010 they were fighting the Chinese mainly in the early days weren't they? And the British in Burma but that wasn't really tank country
1
@Ramschat think you need oil to fuel tanks, not so much to build them. If memory serves me correctly half the time they had the fuel they just didn't have the logistics capable of keeping supplies up with the speed of their advance
1
@Ramschat depends on the weight of the tank and the efficiency of the engine. The tiger 2 was over 60 tons, far heavier then the t 34. The t34 only really had proper armour at the front, at it was only designed to go into battle offensively, there was to be no retreating, and it had sloping armour, both of these things and other weight savings meant it was considerably lighter, faster and more fuel efficient
1
@Ramschat not when it's hauling 65 tons and is 1500 horsepower it's not, it's just a huge gas gussler. It's like saying a hummer is more efficient than two Toyota pickups, it isn't at all
1
@Ramschat the Russian heavy tanks were less than half the weight of the German heavy tanks. The Russians were better at logistics because they'd worked out that its logistics and manufacturing capacity that would win the war not technical superiority, a lesson the US later learnt in Vietnam. As the Russian proverb says, quantity has a quality all of it's own.

BenjaminTheRogue it was on tanks
1
BenjaminTheRogue not sure they were sloping for entirely the same reasons either

All thanks to the cia

@lomoholga I'm a zoomer actually
1
@lomoholga well my great grandad and his brothers and my grandad and his brothers all died in France fighting for French freedom but whenever I point that out to the French instead of gratitude l get is this arrogant dismissal of their sacrifice by staying that French is a great military power and didn't need anyone's help and that they won their liberty on their own etc etc
1
@Soldat Kaiyodo that's beecher it's always fighting colonial wars against this world nations. Its fighting 3 in Africa now. It's also lost more too. And has lost more battles on its own soil than any other country in history. And is the only major power to have invaded, defeated and occupied by a single other nation. It also holds the record for speed of defeat amongst the great powers. Its also the only great power to have to rely on it's allies to save it, twice.
1
@lomoholga tbh if they weren’t so ungrateful and arrogant I probably wouldn’t

No one bothered about this war are they? No one standing with Somalia
1
@Pavlos_Charalambous it was after the war in the late 40s and 50s when the CIA overthrew the democratically elected Greek government and put the military junta in charge to eliminate all opposition and disappeared over 50 000 people
1
To think the US had such a problem with country that was in the midst of a civil war
